This sunday I am planning on asking my manager if I could switch positions from being busser to host. He just added two new bussers and i have been talkin to the hostess and they been sayin they need a host. How can I ask the manager the right way since i've been workin there three weeks so far...Let me know how you would ask plzzzHow to ask manager to change positions at outback steakhouse?
Just tell him your interested in the host position and you were wondering if you could try it out the next time the position is available.
Even if he thinks its too soon, at least he knows its something you want to try, so in the future if it becomes available he may think of you.
The worst he can do is say no.
just tell your boss that you want to make deliveries and he'll probably assign you to hostess. This probably wouldn't work though. How to ask manager to change positions at outback steakhouse?
I work for your sister corp, bonefish grill. If you feel like you can handle the responsibility ask your manager. Be prepared to have the answers ready for the questions he asks.
The hard part is, if your good at your job they aren't going to want to promote you simply because its hard to replace you. You have to tell them this is what you want to do you will be willing to train the new bussers but you want to be a host.
If they value you they will do, don't feel bad if you have to keep reminding them. I've been in this industry for 9 years. I moved from server to bartender soon as I turned 21. I learned what I had to know when I was 20 and when I was old enough I let them know what I wanted to do and if they didn't want to lose me they'd meet my needs. 4 years later I'm still doing what I love!
Since you have only been working there for 3 weeks, you might try asking if you could fill in as a host occasionally. Instead of switching, you have the opportunity to work two different positions. 1 person than can work 2 different positions is more valuable than 2 people that can only work 1 position.
